Hayden Cantwell (me!)

Hello! My name is Hayden Cantwell and I was born on August 20, 2003, at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital. I have 3 cats in total and 1 dog. 1 cat at my dad's and 2 at my mom's. However recently our eldest cat Tigger went outside as usual however he never came back. We think he might have gone off to die as he was 16 so we are pretty upset about that but we made sure he lived a good cat life! Our dog's name is Houston and he is a 12-month-old American bulldog! He's a really big puppy! And my dad's new cat, only 6 months old, is named gizmo. I've never really gotten to travel outside of Ontario so my most memorable experience travelling was Canada's wonderland. In terms of favourite books, movies and tv shows, I have one for all three! My favourite book is called the outsiders, my favourite movie is Back To The Future, and my favourite TV show is Supernatural. In terms of music, I really don't have a favourite genre as I listen to Rock, Rap, Metal, Country, pop, punk and the alternatives to all of those genres. However, my favourite artist has to be Jonathan Davis of the band Korn. If I ever had the chance to meet him I would! I would ask him about how his life is going now, how his kids are, etc. one of them even has diabetes like my dad and Lil sister, which by the way I have a big brother, little brother, and little sister. 

If I were to describe myself to someone, I would tell them that I am a very optimistic person for the most part and always try to keep the best outlook on every situation. If I ever see that my friends are feeling down, or even a random person that's alone in the hall with their head down, I’ll attempt to start a conversation or at the very least give them a smile. The smile part is a lot harder now due to covid however it always seems to at least slightly improve their day and if I can make even a slight impact on someone's happiness, I'll go for it. I know what it feels like to not be accepted and made fun of for things I can't control such as how my face looks or how I speak. In more recent years I've found it a lot easier to talk to all types of different people, even ones that are completely opposite of me, and it's always because I try to keep the best vibe I can so they have less of a reason to be down or make fun of me. In terms of school I have always been at least a decent student, however, my grades and school work ethic improved quite dramatically once I started high school because I had the mentality that “you can't fail middle school so why try your hardest?” Which looking back was a bad mentality to have however in my case it has worked out and my work ethic in school has much improved. Last year wasn't the best and I was slacking pretty hard but I also had a lot on my plate. I had just moved back from Burlington and for the year that I was there, I was going to Burlington central. It was the best school year of my life and I made so many great friends. However everything went south as my dad and stepmom were not getting along for months at this point and by July 14, 2019, she tried to kick me and my dad out at 10PM (at this time I was out hanging with my friends) and by the time I got home at 12AM she had been yelling cursing and breaking things and then called the cops. Because it was a domestic dispute, me and my dad had to leave at around 12:40AM that night and were stuck waiting at a gas station for 50 mins while we waited for my aunt and uncle who lived in Cambridge then to come to pick us up. We were living with them for about a month and then my dad got another new girlfriend and we moved in with her. I really loved it there and Dee (his girlfriend) is an amazing person! However, my dad was acting not the nicest and was always depressed (still is) and she ended up kicking him out because of the way he was acting. He tried to make me come with him but I ended up having a breakdown and cried so he said I could stay and I lived with her for about 5 months with visits to my mom at that time. Eventually, my dad got another girlfriend. Jennifer and he forced me to move out of dees and move there which was the worst thing ever. Her house was constantly messy and I don't like judging people but she hoarded everything and the house was a literal deathtrap. I had to parkour over stuff just to get out of my room. So again my dad broke up with her a month later and I decided to move in with my mom for 3 months. Then my dad got another girlfriend who he's currently with (jenny) and I moved in. they have been together for 6 months now and it's been a rocky but mostly good road and My new stepbrother Micheal, Mikey is his nickname, is amazing! He's 15 currently and we love hanging out together! Lots of gaming and walks and just overall fun times! 

Currently, my biggest interest is technology. More specifically computers! I really enjoy working on and with desktops and laptops alike. I actually just recently took apart my laptop to upgrade its RAM and CPU (Random access memory modules) and (central processing unit). I have also done some coding/programming however I am not near as good at that as I am at fixing the physical components of a computer. I also really enjoy singing/rapping however I suck at it and video games. Eventually, if I ever become really good at programming I want to make my own video game!

I currently do not have a part-time job, however, I have worked at times for 2 months in Burlington and did a co-op at the giant tiger for 5 months during grade 11. In terms of school or learning new things in general, I usually get it more when it's explained to me by another person and I write it down so it stays in my brain for longer. My goals for this year are to focus on my schooling and get the best grades I can by trying my hardest. I have also already started a college application for computer engineering and general computing at Conestoga college. However, it costs $95 to send in the application and I currently have no money and my mom/stepdad are the only ones working at the moment. So I am gonna use some of my Christmas money to send it in. I excel in anything to do with computers really, even if I don't know it and you teach me, it'll stay with me because that's my biggest interest. However, besides that, I've been told that I am pretty good at English. So far my biggest struggle in school has been french and chemistry. I never wanted chemistry anyway as I chose physics. However, they put me in chemistry cause physics was full and I ended up failing. It is the only class I have ever failed though. English is also one of my preferred subjects as I love the freedom it gives you to use your own voice. However, some of the tasks asked of you in English can be tedious I feel, and make you go “when am I ever gonna do this in real life?”
